One of the places we liked to visit was Dennis the Menace Park in Monterey.
The park opened on November 17, 1956, and was renovated in 1986.
With a variety of children's play areas, the park became a great success.
One of the unique structures is the 1924 locomotive steam engine,
donated by the Southern Pacific Railroad.
Dennis The Menace started as a comic strip in 1951,
it chronicles the pranks of the mischievous little boy.
There was a TV series (1959) and a movie (1993) based on the comic as well.
A unique drinking fountain .... careful, Mom!
In later years, I made it a point to take my own kids here!
